'Roter Hahn' farm inns enjoy a long tradition and offer the chance to savour South Tyrolean specialities and have a genuine taste experience.

You'll find the best pressed dumplings at Luggin-Steffele Hof in Kaltern, in the south of South Tyrol. Farmer Margit brought the recipe with her from her home village of Niederdorf in Pustertal.

The meat patties at Burgerhof farm are made with meat from the farm's Tyrolean 'Grauvieh' cattle. This breed is suited to living in the Alpine area and the cows are reared and suckled on the farm, where they enjoy lots of space in the open air. The potatoes in the tasty mashed potatoes also come from the farm's fields.

Guests can enjoy a piece of this cake made from buckwheat flour at Fronthof farm. It comes served with a portion of redcurrant jam made by farmer Elisabeth - a real treat.

Farmer Hannes Kainzwaldner has set up a wonderful open-air pen on his farm for the pigs providing meat for his farm-produced 'Speck'. Belly, lean and shoulder 'Speck' are produced here in keeping with traditional methods and are served finely sliced to guests. A real treat for your tastebuds!

Zmailerhof farm has made a name for itself with thanks to its nettle dumplings. This popular dumpling dish is prepared with nettles freshly picked on the farm by the farmer, Martha Thaler.
