Cornmeal “Muas”

A dish that was on the table almost every day in South Tyrol until the 1970s. It is eaten directly out of the pan with a spoon.

  • 1 l
    milk
  • 500 ml
    water
  • 1 Pinch
    salt
  • 3-4 dspn
    sugar
  • 250 g
    “Muas” mehl
  • a little butter

Instructions - Cornmeal “Muas”

    Step
    Melt some butter in a flat pan

    Step
    Add the milk and water and bring to the boil, then add the salt.

    Slowly stir in the flour and sugar with a whisk.

    Step
    Keep stirring on a low heat until the ‘muas’ has thickened and cook for about a further 20 minutes.

    Top with melted butter.

    Tip: sprinkle with sultanas, cinnamon or cocoa powder to taste.
