The end of the grape harvest in Girlan is symbolically celebrated with the "last load" of grapes.
Celebrating the end of the grape harvest
To celebrate the successful end of the grape harvest, the last load of grapes is brought to the village square every year in the wine village of Girlan on a colourfully-decorated old cart and pressed in a historic wine press. The farmers, along with the village community, taste the fresh grape must, and celebrate the end of the wine harvest. In keeping with the season and the Törggele traditions, there are fragrant, freshly roasted chestnuts too.
