The farm

High above Sarnthein, at 1,360 meters above sea level, lies the farm Gartenbachhof. Thirty-two dairy sheep and ten lambs live here on pasture. Farmer Daniel processes the precious sheep's milk in his own dairy to produce fine fresh and semi-hard cheeses, as well as flavorful yogurt. "Raising my sheep close to their mothers and allowing them daily access to the outdoors are particularly important to me," emphasizes Daniel.

Gartenbachhof is surrounded by 12 hectares of grassland, 5 hectares of pasture and 23 hectares of forest. There, 32 dairy sheep and 10 lambs of the ‘Lacaune’ and ‘Ostfriesisches Milchschaf’ breeds enjoy fresh mountain air and pasture grass from mid-March to mid-November. Mother-bound rearing and concentrate-free feeding are very important to farmer Daniel.

Processing

The sheep's milk is processed fresh every day. Farmer Daniel refines it by hand and without artificial additives into a wide variety of dairy products. His range of yoghurts in particular are very fruity and full of flavour.
