The farm

Wine has been cellared at the historic Fronthof for centuries. This is evidenced not only by the imposing cellar vaults, but also by the mighty wooden beams of the former large wine press. The special climate and the meager, clayey soils characterize the quality of the wines: "The interplay of cool winds from the Schlern massif with warm currents through the sun-exposed location give rise to rich, multi-layered wines," says winemaker Markus Kompatscher with pleasure.

Knowing where it's from

The Fronthof and its vineyards are beautifully situated on a south-facing slope in Völser Aicha, directly below the Schlern massif. The Pinot noir, Zweigelt, Sylvaner, Pinot blanc, Kerner and Sauvignon varieties grow on an area of 1.5 hectares.

Processing

Markus the farmer is the cellar master and turns grapes into fine wines. Red and white wines are stored in the farm cellars until they reach the best possible quality.
