The farm
The locals call the Mittergraben farm set at an altitude of 1,250 m in Ultental/Val d’Ultimo valley ‘Baschtele’. This name comes from the verb ‘basteln’ in German and indicates that the farm’s inhabitants used to be skilled handworkers. The same is true today, and Edith and her family have fulfilled their dream with their 60 white Saanen goats, whose milk is sent to the farm cheese dairy and carefully made into cheese.

Knowing where it's from
Located at 1,300 meters above sea level, the Baschtele Hof offers the white Saanen goats the best conditions for producing healthy goat's milk. From their bright playpen, they can go outside as they please. In the autumn after the hay harvest, they also let off steam on three to five hectares of meadow. Sufficient space for feeding and lying, drinking troughs and natural feed ensure that the goats are healthy all round.

Processing
The goats are milked by hand and the fresh milk is immediately processed in the farm cheese dairy. The gentle handling of the raw milk creates a particularly fine and creamy goat's cheese.
