The Knottnkino is a lookout point. It's outfitted with thirty cinema seats, where the hikers can take a seat and enjoy the unique experience: nature as cinema. The site overlooks the whole of the Adige Valley so visitors enjoy stunning views that encompass the Texel Mountains, Mount Penegal, and even Weißhorn farther afield.

In winter: Due to temperature fluctuations and sub-zero temperatures at night, the hiking trails may be icy. We strongly advise caution and recommend using snow chains for hiking boots.

We recommend to provide information about the current situation.

A family-friendly hike to the open-air cinema in Verano.

With the bus to the bus stop Alpenrose:

  • Bus no. 204 Hafling - Vöran - Mölten - Terlan - Bozen
  • Bus no. 225 Meran - Hafling - Falzeben (until Hafling Dorf, than change to busline no. 204)

You'll find the timetable on the site: www.suedtirolmobil.info/en/

Your hike to Knottnkino starts at the Alpenrose bus stop, located between Hafling and Vöran. From there, follow trail no. 11, which leads you gently uphill through open meadows and sparse forests. Along the way, you can enjoy the fresh mountain air and catch glimpses of the surrounding landscape.

After a while, you will reach a crossroads where you switch to trail no. 14. This leads you through dense forest and along small forest paths further uphill.

Finally, you will reach Knottnkino, a beautiful viewpoint that offers an impressive panorama of the Merano region and the surrounding mountains. Here you can take a break, enjoy a picnic or simply soak up the peace and quiet of the mountain landscape before heading back.
