Woodcarving

An artistic hand-crafted item, as varied as the wood itself. Woodcarving has a long tradition in South Tyrol. When winters were cold, farmers used to spend lots of time carving wood in the warm ‘Stube’, and the love of woodcarving is carried on from generation to generation still today. The wood is transformed into real works of art using carving knives and chisels. These amazing one-off items from the farm are convincing proof of how creative woodcarving can be. The love for detail may be felt in these hand-made unique items fashioned with patience and finesse.

Woodturning

The piece being worked on the constantly humming woodturning lathe is starting to take shape. A one-off artwork is in the making. The art of woodturning is precision work, whereby wood is skillfully chipped away at, resulting in a work of art. Inspired by the colours and shape of the wood, this handcraft throws up individual and modern creations. This is how unique pieces come into being that enhance their surroundings: vases or bowls, as well as fruit, spheres and fine jewellery made of wood. Lots of hours of work and passion lie behind these hand-made pieces.

Techniques handed down through the ages are successfully combined with new and innovative ideas to create works of art in various forms. From handy baskets to decorative, delicate woven objects such as bowls, lanterns and bags – there’s no end to the scope for creativity.
