It stretches for 23 kilometres from the valley basin at Wiesen near Sterzing via Innerpfitsch to the Pfitscher Joch pass, which marks the border between Italy and Austria. The legend of the ‘Nörggelen‘

The well-known tale of the ’Nörggelen‘ comes from Pfitscher Tal valley, according to the locals. These ‘Nörggelen‘ were wicked goblins who played tricks on the inhabitants of the valley. They annoyed the farmers and disrupted their work. Yet, if there were in a good mood, they would take care of early-morning chores in the stables. Nobody ever saw them, but their giggling was heard. Later on, they apparently moved on from Pfitscher Tal and reached the lake at Gansöhralm pasture over the Wilde Kreuzspitze mountain. This lake bears the name of Norggensee today.
