End of the mountain summer for cattle
The mountain summer comes to an end and the cows are driven from the Rescher Alm back down into the valley to their home farms.
Cows return from the Reschen Alpine pastures
The farmers are happy with their harvest and herdsmen are glad that the cattle survived the summer unscathed. The Almherbst is a festival of thanksgiving for the end of dairy cows’ summer grazing in the mountain pastures, and the animals’ return from the Reschner Alm. The end of the mountain summer is celebrated at this rustic festival with excellent food.
