South Tyrol’s oldest harvest thanksgiving festival
The oldest harvest thanksgiving festival in South Tyrol takes place annually on the third Sunday in October, at the end of the grape harvest.
South Tyrolean customs, folk music and food.
The well-known Meran Grape Festival has been held at the end of the grape harvest every year since 1890, on the third Sunday in October. The festival now lasts for two days and its main attraction is definitely the parade with beautiful, elaborately-decorated floats, traditional costume groups and musical bands. There’s a wonderful supporting programme too, with typical South Tyrolean dishes and folk music.
