The composer and conductor Gustav Mahler spent his summers between 1908 and 1910 in Trenkerhof in Toblach. It was here that he composed his ninth and tenth symphonies (the latter remained unfinished).The ‘Lied von der Erde’ was also written a hundred years ago in Toblach. The Gustav Mahler Music Weeks with concerts, talks and musical excursions take place in Toblach and the surrounding area annually in memory of Mahler.
