An entertaining event at the Meran Racecourse
At the annual Burggräfler Palio, which takes place on the last Sunday in August, various municipalities from the Meran valley basin and the surrounding area compete against each other in a festive setting on the Merano horse racecourse. Thoroughbreds and Haflinger horses from the municipalities take part in a variety of races. At the end of the afternoon there’s a grand finale with a surprise. Flat and steeplechase races for thoroughbreds and races for local Haflinger horses have been firmly established in the South Tyrolean tradition for years and are very popular with locals and guests. You can also enjoy Tyrolean specialities, music and folkloristic interludes at the races.
