During a snowshoe hike in South Tyrol, you can fully enjoy the quiet and untouched nature of the winter landscape. Thanks to wide snowshoes, it is easy to walk through the deep snow.

Snowshoe hikers trudge through snow-covered forests and over wide Alpine pastures at walking pace. Surrounded by fresh air, snow-covered trees and pleasant silence, you are heading towards the sun. When there's been snow in the night and hikers buckle on their snowshoes early in the morning to take their first steps in the fresh snow, they are met with an enchanting sight. If they keep their eyes peeled, there is lots to discover for nature scientists big and small. The morning sun brings to light all kinds hoof and paw tracks that the animals have left in the glittering snow.

Happy moments on the farm

Snowshoes have a long tradition in South Tyrol. Farmers used to strap wide plates to their feet to move effortlessly in the snow without sinking. Today, hikers use snowshoes to explore the picturesque mountains in winter.

At the holiday farm you can set out directly on attractive routes. Some farmers even offer their guests weekly guided snowshoe hikes. Right after farm breakfast with home-baked bread, fresh milk and home-made fruit spreads, head out into the clear winter air. In the evening you can return to your comfortable holiday apartment or your cosy room and look forward to the next eventful day of your holiday.

Prepared trails

If you prefer to be out and about in snow boots or mountain boots, you can take a walk on one of the numerous prepared winter hiking trails. On gently sloping paths, hikers reach rewarding viewpoints of the striking mountain scenery and thus discover South Tyrol's quieter side. At midday, the many Alpine huts, which are also open in winter, invite you to take a relaxing break. There, winter hikers can enjoy glorious sunshine and breathtaking summit panoramas.
