When sledging, you whizz down into the valley on two light runners with full swing. The sun shines on your face and white winter woodland passes by. Unlike other winter sports, sledging is suitable for everyone. Whether big or small, beginner or experienced: sledging requires neither special knowledge nor much experience. Unlimited sledging fun in the snow is guaranteed.
Unbridled sledging fun
In South Tyrol, the toboggan runs are scattered all over the country, from the Reschenpass in Vinschgau to Sexten in Hochpustertal. In most ski areas you can easily use the lifts and then sledge down the mountain. But where are the longest toboggan runs in South Tyrol? 10 km of sledging fun awaits you on the Rosskopf in Sterzing. The Plose near Brixen and the Speikboden in Ahrntal valley also offer plenty of kilometres of sledging fun.
Suitable sledging equipment ensures safe sledging. With sturdy shoes, warm clothing, ski goggles and a helmet, fast descents are no problem.
Fun in the snow on the farm
Do you prefer quieter slopes? In winter, many dirt roads in South Tyrol turn into natural toboggan runs. After a leisurely winter hike, the whole family can look forward to a fun descent. The reward for sledging enthusiasts: an extra helping of fresh mountain air. The rosy cheeks and beaming smiles of children on their sledges is priceless. On the way, rustic Alpine huts tempt you in for a hearty snack.
On many farms there is a small sledging slope behind the house. Here children can have their first attempts at sledging and really let off steam racing down.
The farm family is happy to lend sledges to guests. In the meantime, parents can relax in the soothing winter sun with a hot cup of herbal tea. In the evening it's back to a warm holiday apartment or cosy room.
Sledging under the full moon
A special experience awaits night owls under a starry sky. With moonlight tobogganing, the glow of the moon and your headlamp illuminate the slopes shrouded in darkness. Before you start, a good sip of homemade mulled wine from the farmer will warm you up. Then it's downhill into the valley through an enchanted world. In addition to organising nocturnal sledging trips, some farms in South Tyrol also offer atmospheric hikes by torchlight.
