The farm

The vineyards and orchards of Gut Kaltenburg stretch out in the middle of the classic wine region "Kaltern". This is where the grapes and fruit for the family's aromatic distillates thrive. "Know-how and technology, but also our soil, the mild climate and the loving manual plant care contribute to the special fruitiness of our distillates," explains master distiller Juliana. Distillery tours and tastings in the farm shop are also offered by appointment.

Knowing where it's from

The Kaltenburg Estate and its vineyards and orchards are located on the northern shore of Lake Kaltern. Merlot, Cabernet, Vernatsch and Lagrein as well as various fruits for the distillates are cultivated on around 8 hectares in the centre of the Kaltern wine region on loose limestone gravel soils.

Processing

In the farm distillery, the master distillers conjure up the best grappas from the pomace of their own grapes. Flavoured distillates are made from cherries, plums, mirabelle plums and quinces, as well as herbs from the farm.
