The Sasso Piatto is situated between Val Gardena and the Altopiano dello Sciliar in proximity of the Sassolungo. Thanks to its inclination of 30° the Sasso Piatto is scalable from the south side, nevertheless a bit of condition is required.

Starting point is Passo Sella, which you can reach by bus or by car. The trail runs along the the known Friedrich-August-Trail, marking 4/594 to the refuge Sasso Piatto 2297m. From there you turn right ascending the serpentine trail n. 527 to the summit. Bevor you reach it you turn on the left on the path which ascending hikers have partly blurred to the final passage to the middle summit of the Sasso Piatto. Return back to the Sasso Piatto refuge and further on to the Zallinger refuge to Monte Pana and S. Cristina.
