The hike to the Wurmaulspitze has everything a mountain lover could wish for: dramatic gorges, charming alpine huts, and a stunning summit view. With 700 meters of elevation gain, it’s a rewarding challenge for experienced hikers.
You can park conveniently at the parking lot near the Fane Alm, the perfect starting point for this unforgettable mountain tour.
By bus from Rio di Pusteria to Valles (no. 412). Then about 30 minutes on foot to the end of the valley. In the summer months (July and August), a shuttle bus leaves from here to the Fane Alm (starting point of the hike).
Start at the parking lot near the Fane Alm and hike through the impressive rock gorge "Schramme", which steadily ascends to the charming alpine huts of the Brixner Hütte (2,282 m). Take a short break here before following the trail to the Wurmaulspitze. The path becomes more challenging, leading you through alpine terrain to the summit of the Wurmaulspitze (3,022 m), where breathtaking panoramic views await you.
The return follows the same trail back to the Fane Alm and the parking lot.
