The tour to the Wurmaulspitze leads through striking gorges, past mountain huts and up to a panoramic summit. With 700 metres of elevation gain, it is a demanding but rewarding tour for experienced hikers.
You can park at the car park near the Fane Alm, the starting point of this mountain tour.
From Mühlbach, follow the road towards Vals and continue to the village centre. From there, the road leads further into the valley towards Fane Alm. Follow the signs to the car park near Fane Alm, the starting point of the tour.
By bus from Rio di Pusteria to Valles (no. 412). Then about 30 minutes on foot to the end of the valley. In the summer months (July and August), a shuttle bus leaves from here to the Fane Alm (starting point of the hike).

You start at the parking lot near Fane Alm and follow trail no. 17 through the rocky “Schramme” gorge, climbing steadily to the Brixner Hütte at 2,282 metres. This is a good place to take a short break.

The route then continues along trail no. 17A towards Wurmaulspitze. The trail becomes more challenging and leads through alpine terrain to the summit at 3,022 metres, offering sweeping panoramic views.

The return follows the same route via the Brixner Hütte and Fane Alm. The finishing point of the tour is once again the parking lot near Fane Alm.
