This snowshoe expedition to the Jocherhof farm leads you over gently undulating countryside above the Tierser Valley. It boasts breathtaking views over the Rosengarten mountain, and is not particularly challenging on a technical level.

Da Tires o Bolzano l’autobus extraurbano nº 185 conduce sul Passo Nigra. In alternativa, parcheggio sul passo.

The starting point is easily accessible by public transport:

Take bus line 176 from Völs am Schlern or bus line 185 from Bolzano/Bozen bus station to St. Zyprian at the valley station of the Tiers Cabrio cable car. From there, the cable car takes hikers to the mountain station at Frommer Alm. A pleasant forest path then leads to the Niger Pass, the starting point of our hike.

The set-off point for this snowshoe walk is the Nigerpass. Even at this point, the views over the Rosengarten are absolutely stunning. The trail then winds along a trail through the Nigra forest and on to the Vöstl mountain hotel and further on to the Jocher Hof farm, past the Hagner Alm mountain hut, and on to the Schillerhof. This loop trail begins on the big forest trail  and ends at the Nigerjochhaus restaurant.
