Another much-loved winter hiking trail starts out in Hafling/Avelengo, passes the Wurzer Alm and Vöraner Alm Mountain Huts, continues on to Kreuzjöchl and then across the snowy pass from Vöran/Verano to Hafling above the timberline.

Due to temperature fluctuations and sub-zero temperatures at night, the hiking trails may be icy. We strongly advise caution and recommend using snow chains for hiking boots.

Parking area in Hafling Dorf/Avelengo paese, on charge (under the parish church)

Coming from both directions of the freeway Meran/Merano - Bozen/Bolzano (MEBO), take the exit of Meran Süd/Merano Sud and follow directions towards Meran first, to then turn right towards Hafling/Avelengo, follow the street until the parking lot in Hafling Dorf (below the parish church).

With the bus until the bus stop Hafling Dorf:

• Bus no. 225 Meran - Hafling - Falzeben
• Bus no. 204 Hafling - Vöran - Mölten - Terlan - Bozen

The hike begins at the parking lot in the village of Hafling and follows trail no. 2A to the Avelina Restaurant, then turns left towards Wurzer Alm Mountain Hut. From there, the route takes you along trail no. 2 to Vöraner Alm Mountain Hut and via the European long-distance trail E5 to Karkofel, Kreuzjoch, and on to Kreuzjöchl. Here, surrounded by untouched nature, you’ll be rewarded with a wonderful 360° panoramic view of the Dolomites and the Texel Group.

The return route follows trail no. 4 down to the Meraner Hut and to the Rotwand mountain restaurant and Chalet Zuegg back to the Falzeben parking lot. From there, you can take the bus back to Hafling Dorf.
