Winter hike Oberolang - Welsberg
Coming from Innsbruck/Brenner (A): Drive on the Highway of Brenner (A22) until the exit Brixen/Pustertal, then go on along the SS49-E66 for about 50kms until you arrive in Olang/Valdaora.
Coming from Lienz (A): You can reach us also padding by Lienz in Westtyrol (A). You have to cross the Austrian-Italian border between Ahrnbach and Winnebach (B100-E66) and drive on the SS46-E66 until Olang/Valdaora
Coming from Bozen: Highway of Brenner (A22) until the exit Brixen/Pustertal, then go on along the SS49-E66 for about 50kms until you arrive in Olang/Valdaora.
This relaxing, approximately 2-hour hike begins in Oberolang at the cemetery. You can easily reach the centre of Oberolang with Citybus 435.1 (Bus stop: Oberolang, Dorfstraße) or, alternatively, with the CallBus. After a short 300-metre walk, you’ll arrive at the starting point.
The trail leads you through a picturesque forest and then along the Olang reservoir, until you reach the charming neighbouring village of Welsberg. The outward route is about 5.6 km long. For the return, you can take the regional train (No. 400) or simply walk back the same way.
