Near the graveyard you can find parking place or pay parking in the center of Algund, opposite the town hall.

The starting is at the graveyard to Algund.

 In summer it is relatively hot in this area due to its southern exposure.

Our hiking tip “Algund - Grabbachpromenade - Vellau” demands a little physical fitness but is worthwhile with a unique and fascinating panoramic view of the entire Burggrafenamt.

By train to Merano and by bus line 235 to Algund, bus stop at the graveyard.

If you want to reach Vellau by direct ascent, you will need a lot of stamina. Turn left at the graveyard, walk to the Grabbach, take the path along the stream until you come to the 3rd bridge. Turn first left and then right onto a tarmac road, which leads you to the Blumenthalerhof. After the 4th bridge, turn left to the Blumenthalerhof (# 25) and ascend to Ebeneich. Turn right and walk through the orchard up to the Birbamegg. The paths # 25 and # 26 lead you through the forest to the Vellau parish church. Unique panoramic view across the entire burgrave's district. Return journey with the bus to Vellau (235).
