The hike is rated intermediate-high for level of difficulty and offers unforgettable moments. The tour requires experience, not to suffer from vertigo, sure-footedness, physical fitness as well as suitable equipment. 

1st day

From Kasern/Casere (1,595 m) in direction of the Krimmler Tauern Pass checkpoint – high altitude path to Birnlücken Hütte mountain refuge (2,442 m). Walking time approx. 4-5 hours. Overnight stay: Birnlücken Hütte mountain refuge

2nd day

From Birnlücken Hütte mountain refuge – across the Birnlücke checkpoint (2,667 m) to the Krimmler Tauernhaus mountain refuge (1,631 m). Walking time approx. 4-5 hours. Overnight stay: Krimmler Tauernhaus mountain refuge

3th day

From Krimmler Tauernhaus mountain refuge walk into the Reinbachtal valley. Take the path through the wood in direction of the Reinbach See lake and continue to the Reinbachscharte col (2,724 m). From there descent to the Zittauer Hütte mountain refuge (2,328 m). Walking time approx. 4-5 hours. Overnight stay: Zittauer Hütte

4th day

From the Zittauer Hütte mountain refuge to the Rosskarscharte col (2,689 m) and to the Richter Hütte mountain refuge (2,367 m). Walking time approx. 3-4 hours. Overnight stay: Richter Hütte mountain refuge

5th day

From Richter Hütte mountain refuge to the Windbachscharte col and to the lake Eissee. Ascent to the Zillerplattenscharte col (2,880 m). Descent to the Plauener Hütte mountain refuge (2,364 m). Walking time approx. 5-6 hours. Overnight stay: Plauener Hütte mountain refuge

6th day

From Plauener Hütte mountain refuge to Heilig Geist Jöchl col (2,650 m). Descent to the starting point – Casere-Kasern. Tempo di percorrenza ca. 6 ore
