The starting point of the via ferrata is the View of the Three Peaks/Landro.
From the parking place, the hiking trail no. 6 first leads into the Rienztal/Val Rienza valley and then right over the creek bed to the foot of Monte Piano. From there, the "Pioniersteig" leads upwards in bends to the start of the short via ferrata through the north-facing summit wall of Monte Piano.
The descent takes place via path no. 6A to the Forcella dei Castrati and from there on the "Touristensteig" path , past Lake Dürrensee/Lago di Landro, to the starting point.
WARNING: The GPX data may differ from reality.
Parking places are available.
The Hauptmann-Bilgeri track is a short and relatively easy via ferrata with a long approach and is therefore more to be seen as a mountain tour.
On the summit plateau of the Monte Piano there is an open-air museum about the First World War.
