The Legend Trail is especially suitable for families. The stories along the route make the walk an entertaining experience for children and adults.

Legends from Trodena/Truden include all sorts of mythical heroes whose stories have been passed down through generations, giving many people in Trodena the shivers. In order to give a brief insight of Trodena’s fabulous beings to interested parties, in 2009 the staff at the Trodena primary school decided to develop the "Trail of Legends". Pupils of the 4th and 5th grade worked on that, they recorded and treated all of the sagas.

The 2 km long circular trail along the Forchwaldegg (trail no. 8) in Trodena proved to be a perfect spot for the Trail of Legends. It is set amidst larch, pine and spruce trees and is very easy to hike.


Also suitable as a family hike. Not accessible with a stroller.

The trail is easy and family-friendly. Forest paths can become slippery in wet conditions. Good footwear is recommended.
Comfortable hiking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, sun protection and sufficient water.
The Legend Trail in Truden follows an easy circular route through Forchwaldegg forest, revealing the mysterious stories and legends of the village.
Public parking is available in the centre of Truden.
Take the A22 motorway and exit at Neumarkt/Auer. Continue via Montan and Kaltenbrunn to Truden in the Nature Park.
Take the train to Neumarkt/Auer. From there, bus connections are available to Truden.

Starting point: Hotel Schönwies, Truden

Route: The Legend Trail begins at Hotel Schönwies in the upper part of Truden and follows an approximately 2.8 km circular route along Hiking Trail No. 8 around the forested hill of Forchwaldegg. The trail then returns to the starting point. The route is easy to walk and particularly suitable for families.

Refreshment stops along the route: Hotel Schönwies, inns, cafés and restaurants in the centre of Truden, as well as additional refreshment options in the surrounding area.

Highlights: Forchwaldegg, larch, pine and spruce forests, wooden sculptures depicting figures from Truden’s legends, idyllic woodland scenery, and insights into the local culture and traditional stories of the region.
