From the tourist office in Monguelfo (1087m), go through the village centre, past the music pavilion/main square on the right and straight ahead to the bridge that crosses the Val Casies Valley stream. There you follow the sign "Grande giro del castello" on the old Val Casies Valley road in an easterly direction. After about 50 minutes of walk you turn right to cross a narrow wooden bridge. After that bridge hold on to the left and then go uphill until you meet the old castle path after a long loop. From here you hike slightly downhill through the forest, past the Castle Welsperg and then, after passing the school center, back to the starting point.

Coming from Innsbruck/Brennero (A): Drive on the Highway of Brennero (A22) until the exit Bressanone/Val Pusteria, then go on along the SS49-E66 for about 58kms until you arrive in Monguelfo. Coming from Lienz (A): You can reach us also padding by Lienz in Westtyrol (A). You have to cross the Austrian-Italian border between Ahrnbach and Winnebach (B100-E66) and drive on the SS46-E66 until Monguelfo.
