Easy circular walk from Welsberg on the castle loop past Welsperg Castle with optional detour to Thurn ruins.

Coming from Innsbruck/Brennero (A): Drive on the Highway of Brennero (A22) until the exit Bressanone/Val Pusteria, then go on along the SS49-E66 for about 58kms until you arrive in Monguelfo.
Coming from Lienz (A): You can reach us also padding by Lienz in Westtyrol (A). You have to cross the Austrian-Italian border between Ahrnbach and Winnebach (B100-E66) and drive on the SS46-E66 until Monguelfo.

From the tourist office in Welsberg (1087 m) walk through the center of the village, past the music pavilion at the Central Square and continue to the bridge crossing the Gsieserbach stream. Following the sign Great Castle Tour after approx. 50 minutes, turn right, continue the route and turn right at the crossroads. After a short climb and a wide loop through the meadows you continue through the forest. You go past Castel Welsperg, through the school center to return to the starting point. Along the route around the castle during summer, the short climb to the Thurn Ruin is also worthwhile.
