The Partschinser Rötelspitze (3,037 m), also known as Cima Rosa di Parcines/Sopranes, is one of the most striking 3,000-metre peaks in the Texel Group Nature Park. Rising above the Zieltal Valley, it offers breathtaking views.

This demanding alpine summit tour leads through the wild Zieltal Valley to Lodner Mountain Hut and continues over high-alpine terrain with sections of block scrambling along the eastern ridge to the summit.

Only suitable for experienced, sure-footed mountaineers in excellent physical condition.

Texelbahn cable car – Giggelberg – Nasereit Hut – Lodnerhütte Mountain Hut – Tabland Lacken (lakes) – Halsljoch – Partschinser Rötelspitze – return same route

From the Texelbahn mountain station, reach Giggelberg restaurant within a few minutes. Follow the Merano High Mountain Trail 24 (Meraner Höhenweg Nr. 24) to Nasereit Hut (1,523 m) (approx. 1 hour).

Here, trail 8 leads into the Zieltal Valley, passing Kaserstein and Ginggl alpine huts to Lodnerhütte Mountain Hut (rifugio Cima Fiammante) (2,295 m) at the confluence of the Ziel and Lafais streams (approx. 3 h 30 min from the cable car).

From the hut, follow marking 7 to the Tablander Lacken (lakes) (2,649 m) and onwards to Halsljoch (2,808 m). Continue on marking 40 along the eastern ridge with exciting block scrambling to the summit of Partschinser Rötelspitze (3,037 m).

Return along the same route.

Did you know?

The name “Rötelspitze” refers to the reddish rock colour caused by iron oxide, which makes the summit glow intensely in the evening light.

The word “Rötel” (also spelled Röthel) is an old Alpine term for red ochre or iron-rich earth. Many peaks in South Tyrol and Austria share this name root, such as Rötelstein or Rotwand.

The mountain also marks a historic boundary between the Partschins area and the Lazinser Valley in the Passeier Valley.
