The Spronser Lakes form the heart of the Texel Group Nature Park and are the highest alpine lake plateau in South Tyrol. Ten glacial lakes lie between 2,117 m and 2,589 m, creating one of the most impressive high-mountain landscapes in the Alps.

This demanding circular hike starts in Pfelders and leads over Falschnal Pass and Spronser Joch to the vast lake plateau, returning via Oberkaser Mountain Hut and Hochmuth.

Sure-footedness and good physical condition are required.

Parking options in Partschins are limited. In order to protect the local natural area and support sustainable travel, we recommend using public transport. Thank you for helping to protect this area!

The starting points of our hiking tours can be reached comfortably and in an environmentally friendly way by bus and train. With the South Tyrol Guest Pass, all public transport throughout South Tyrol can be used free of charge – no need to search for parking. Merano – Pfelders – Falschnal mountain hut – Falschnal Pass – Spronser Joch – Oberkaser mountain hut – Mutkopf – cable car Hochmuth – Dorf Tirol – Merano

From Merano, take the early bus to Pfelders/Passeiertal. The hike begins towards Falschnal mountain hut (1,871 m). Continue on trail 6 up to Falschnal Pass (2,417 m) and further to Spronser Joch (2,581 m).

The impressive plateau of the Spronser Lakes unfolds before you: Kasersee, Pfitschersee, Mückensee, Grünsee, Langsee, Schiefersee, Kesselsee, Schwarzsee and the two Milchseen.

Descend to Oberkaser mountain hut (2,134 m) for a break. The route continues via Mutkopf to the cable car Hochmuth. The cable car takes you down to Dorf Tirol. Return to Merano by bus.
