The Villandro Alpine Pasture, high above the Isarco Valley and the Brenner motorway, is one of South Tyrol’s lesser-known winter sports areas. This is probably because there are no lifts here—only cross-country ski trails and winter hiking paths.

- Saltnerstein car park – Gasser Hut (fee required)
- Kaser car park (fee required)
- Start of the family hiking trail (free)

From Klausen, take the LS87 to Villanders (village). At the DESPAR, turn right towards the Villanders Alm. After about 25 minutes’ drive, you reach the Saltnerstein car park (Gasser Hut).

Line 345: Klausen – Villanders – Villanders Alm

The snowshoe hike to the Rittner Horn starts at the Gasserhütte. Follow the groomed winter hiking trail first to the Mair in Plun hut and from there to the Gasteiger Sattel. Then continue on to the Rittner Horn. Along the route, the Mair in Plun hut, the Oberes Horn Haus and the Gasserhütte are great places to stop for refreshments. The return follows the same route as the way out.
