Snowshoe hikes are ideal to enjoy the nature and to recharge your energy.

Resciesa is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Puez - Odle Nature Park and is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Val Gardena. This loop hike takes you from the top station of the Resciesa funicular to the summit cross. Passing then by the S. Croce Chapel you return to the starting point. Suitable for hikers of all ages, this easily hiked route guarantees spectacular panoramic views, extending from the Valle Isarco to the Sciliar area and to the Passo Sella.

Plan enough time for the return journey and observe the opening hours of the funicular.

Warm winter clothes

The impressive landscape of the Dolomites can be explored in the winter with an exciting snowshoe hike.

There are different places where you can park your car in order to reach the start of the walk:

• Central Parking
• Valley station of the Seiser Alm cablecar
• Valley station of the Seceda cablecar

The valley station of the Resciesa funicular is easily reached on foot from the center of Ortisei, using the escalators on Via Rezia and passing through the tunnel to the Seceda cable car. From here, follow the signs to Resciesa, going up Via Roma and turning left onto Via Sneton. At the intersection, turn right onto Via Resciesa and on the right you will find the funicular station.

The starting point of this beautiful snowshoeing hike is the top station of the Resciesa funicular. Heading on the trail to northeast you reach the "Costa dl Cason" following trail Nr. 31. From the junction continue in the direction of Resciesa di Fuori in order to reach the highest point of the hike, namely the summit cross at 2,281m. From this point a wonderful view opens up expanding from the Valle Isarco to the Val di Funes and from the Sciliar area to the Passo Sella. You then descend to the Holy Cross Chapel, built in 1755 at over 2,200m and restored in 2012. The hike proceeds on trail Nr. 35 reaching at first the Resciesa Hut and later the Resciesa mountain station. Throughout the trail you will have the opportunity to admire the breathtaking landscapes of the Dolomites. Back to the starting point, you can return to Ortisei by funicular or on foot in about an hour and a half, following Trail 10B and then Trail Nr. 10.
