From the Head of the Valley in St. Magdalena (1465 m) follow trail markers No. 47/48 over the bridge, then immediately turn left and after the Schlosser Hof turn right. The trail now follows an old cattle drive into the Tscharniettal. On the right runs the natural toboggan track, on the left a stunning winter landscape. At about 1627 m you reach a junction with clear signage; turn right over a wooden bridge and continue on forest road No. 48. Before the next crossing of the Tscharniet stream, at about 1851 m (on the right a small power station), leave the alpine path and ascend on the orographic right-hand side of the stream through light larch woods. Pass the new alpine huts (1976 m), then keep left over broad, ascending ridges. At about 2000 m, already above the treeline, keep slightly left and you will see the notch of the Kalksteinjöchl (2349 m) to the east, guarded by the Geilspitze and Körlspitze.
