Enjoy the unique atmosphere of Mazon with its famous Pinot Noir vineyards. The hike is especially beautiful in autumn when the vineyards are full of colour.
Circular hiking trail from the hamlet of Mazon above Neumarkt up to the Kanzel viewpoint at about 1000 metres above sea level. The hike is pleasant and particularly suitable for families. There are refreshment stops at the Gsteigerhof inn not far from the Kanzel. The way back is via the so-called Klopfsteig to the Kaldiff ruin and from there through Mazon's vineyards back to the parking lot.
The hike follows easy paths through vineyards and forest sections. Some parts can become slippery in wet conditions. Wear suitable footwear and stay on marked trails.
Comfortable hiking shoes with good grip, weather-appropriate clothing, sun protection, sufficient water and hiking poles if required.
Leisurely circular hike from Mazon to the Kanzel viewpoint and back.
Parking is available in Mazon, at the entrance to path number 2.
Take the A22 motorway and exit at Neumarkt/Auer. Continue on the road towards Montan and then to Mazon, the starting point of the hike.
Take the train to Neumarkt/Auer. From there, bus connections are available to Montan and further to Mazon. Check the latest connections on Südtirolmobil before travelling.
From the car park, take trail no. 2 in the direction of Klösterle and Laag. At the first crossroads, leave the path and take forest trail no. 3A, which leads to the Kanzel and the Gsteigerhof inn. From the Gsteigerhof, take trail no. 3 towards Neumarkt and the Kaldiff ruin. Once you reach the ruins, cross Mazon and its lovely vineyards until you reach the car park.
