Innichen / San Candido, Toblach / Dobbiaco, Niederdorf / Villabassa
Pustertal Valley Cycle Trail: Innichen/San Candido - Bruneck/Brunico
From San Candido/Innichen you go straight along the Färberstrasse towards the industrial zone, where you reach the cycle trail alongside the railway track to Dobbiaco/Toblach. At the station in Dobbiaco, the trail goes straight on past the Union hotel. Warning: You soon reach a railway underpass before which you must turn off to the left towards the Gustav Mahler Stube restaurant; soon afterwards, you turn right towards Villabassa/Niederdorf, go through the village and, to the right of the Adler hotel, you pick up the Pustertal Valley Cycle Path (Pustertaler Radweg) again after the railway station. Then you continue across the meadows and at Braies/Prags go straight on to Monguelfo/Welsberg. In Monguelfo, you go left in front of the Wohnland furniture store to follow the signposted cycle trail. After passing the reservoir, you come to the cemetery in Valdaora di Sopra/Oberolang. You go straight along this road to Valdaora di Mezzo/Mitterolang and then right to Valdaora di Sotto/Niederolang, past the church and through the railway underpass towards Brunico. Follow the signs, passing the gravel works and the football ground, until you come to two tunnels in succession. After cycling for a total of about 3 hours, you arrive at the open-air swimming pool in Brunico.
You can reach Innichen/San Candido, Toblach/Dobbiaco, Niededorf/Villabassa easily by train, by bus or by car. Please contact the Tourist Info to get information about timetables and free parking areas.
A very varied cycling trip through the wonderful scenery of the Pustertal valley.
Characteristics: The bike tour takes you sometimes on asphalt tracks and sometimes on well-maintained gravel tracks across meadows and through woods on the left of the main Pustertal valley road to Brunico/Bruneck. You start at 1,175 m in San Candido/Innichen and end up at 800 m in Brunico. The difference in altitude of only 400 m is deceptive; there are some sections that are really tiring. However, most of the route is flat, and from Valdaora/Olang it is almost all downhill. Conveniently, you can put your bike on the train to return. For less experienced cyclists or for families with children, there is the option of travelling back by train from any of the villages on the way.
Starting points: San Candido/Innichen (35 km), Dobbiaco/Toblach (30 km), Villabassa/Niederdorf (27,5 km)
This tour is also suitable for e-bikes.
