Starting from the ‘Max Valier’ observatory, you immediately reach the 1st planet Mercury, then the 2nd planet Venus and the Earth at the farm Untereggerhof. The Planetary Path then continues slightly uphill along the hiking trail in a northerly direction, past a small private pond, to the Oberegger, where you reach the 4th planet Mars. From there, the Planetary Path leads around the farm Oberegger Hof, along the trail marker [5] in an easterly direction, where the path leads you uphill to the 5th planet, Jupiter. Always following the markings [5], slightly uphill through the forest to the Malgeier farm, you will come to the 6th planet Saturn with a fantastic view of the Latemar Dolomite massif. From Saturn, the Planetary Path continues northwards along the tarmac access road. From here, it descends along the markings [5] through the forest to a biotope. The flat route continues eastwards until the end of the biotope. Here the path turns northwards, initially along a well-trodden forest path and then along an ascending forest path to the main road. Cross the road and follow the hiking trail [1/3] to the Lärchenwald country inn, where the 7th planet Uranus is located. From here, follow the hiking trail [1] past the farm Jaiterhof, continuing in the direction of Haus Waldpeter and reaching the highest point (1,420m) of the planetary circular hiking trail just above Haus Waldpeter. From here, follow the special signs for the Planetary Path and you will reach the 8th planet, Neptune. The Planetary Path then leads down along forest paths to the Schenk car park at the Lantschnay bus stop. The trail [5A] then runs along the tarmac road past the Learn pond. Shortly after the Hinteregger farm, the path turns right at the edge of the forest towards the farm Edenhof. Follow the planet signs and you will pass the farm Tschigg Hof, where the 9th planet or dwarf planet Pluto is located. Follow the planet signs back to the starting point.

You hike through the beautiful natural landscape of the Eggental Valley and take a journey through our solar system - the Planet Path makes it possible! This special hike brings you closer to the fascinating vastness of the universe. 

Starting from our star, the sun, which can be seen on the wall of the observatory, you will find all 8 planets of our solar system as well as the dwarf planet Pluto at their true-to-scale distance from the sun. Every step you take corresponds to about 1 million kilometres. And yet you will be travelling for almost 3 hours until you have visited all the planets. 
At each station, you will learn exciting facts about the celestial bodies and their unique characteristics.

The Planet Path is not only an adventure for anyone interested in astronomy, but also for nature lovers who want to enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of the South Tyrolean landscape.
The route is easy to walk and takes you through idyllic forests, over gentle hills and along vantage points that offer you ever-changing views of the mountains. 

Important note: There are no refreshment stops along the entire circular route. However, at the start and end of this hike you will find the Unteregger inn, which will spoil you with South Tyrolean specialities.
