On the alpine pastures path to the Mahdalm
The alpine path through the pastures in the Talle/Hirzer hiking area stretches from Videgg over the Stafell Alm to the Mahdalm and mostly runs above the tree line, meaning that this hike offers unforgettable views of the surrounding mountain landscape, especially in good weather. This route is especially worth trying in late-June, when the beautiful fields of Alpine roses on the southern slope are in full bloom.
The starting point for this hike is the Verdins-Talle cable car mountain station. From here, you ascend on a forest path (no. 2A and 2B) leading to the Stafell Inn. This route will take you roughly 90 minutes. Alternatively, the Talle-Grube chair lift is at your disposal. When you reach Stafell, the path (no. 7) leads to the Sonntagsweide and continues on to the Tallner Alm. Still at the foot of the Punta Cervina massif and in the middle of the Alpine roses, the path ultimately leads to Mahdalm via the Rotmoos pasture on path no. 2B.
You can make your way back on the footpath (no. 4) over Gompm and Hochwies to Prenn. From here, you can return to the Verdins-Talle cable car mountain station within 20 minutes. Once you’ve returned to Verdins, you can return to Scena or Merano in comfort by taking the bus.
