The rather simple-looking octagonal building was constructed by Giacomo Delai between 1652 and 1658. Inside, the ceiling frescoes by Baroque painter Stefan Kessler, magnificent stucco work by Francesco Carlone and Simon Delai, and the beautiful Rumpfer Altar dating from 1612 give the church its distinctive character.

A remarkable treasure is the baptismal font, preserved in one of the church’s interior rooms and dating back to the early Christian period in the second half of the 4th century.

Opening hours:
July to October: Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, from 14:00 to 17:00.

Discover Säben’s Church of Our Lady with magnificent frescoes, stucco work, the 1612 Rumpfer Altar and an early Christian baptismal font.
Parking is available in Klausen at Marktplatz or Schindergries. From there, the paths to Säben can be reached on foot.

Säben is accessible only on foot. From Tinneplatz in Klausen, follow the signs to Säben. The monastery can be reached in about 30 minutes via the Stations of the Cross, or in about 40 minutes via the Säben Promenade.
