Crystal-clear mountain lakes west of the Totenkirchl. The still-open entrance to an adit and a prehistoric smelting site below the lake point to copper mining as far back as 3,000 years ago.

Gasser Hut (Saltnerstein) parking – P4.
From Klausen, take the LS87 to Villanders (village). At the DESPAR, turn right towards the Villanders Alm. After about 25 minutes’ drive, you reach the Saltnerstein car park (Gasser Hut).
From there, we follow footpath no. 6 towards the Totenkirchlein chapel. Near the Totenkirchlein you’ll find well worth visiting mountain lakes, on the Sarntal/Sarentino side, about 10 minutes below the chapel.
