This tour is perfect for those seeking a quieter alternative to the more popular peaks around Staller Saddle. The remote Weißenbachtal valley offers a peaceful mountain experience.

The mountain tour from Staller Saddle (2,050 m) to Hinterbergkofel peak (2,726 m) is a peaceful and scenic hike in the border region between South Tyrol and East Tyrol. The ascent leads through the remote Weißenbachtal valley, a wild and picturesque alpine valley.

Starting from Staller Saddle, the route initially heads towards Rotwand peak before turning into Weißenbachtal valley. The trail follows the gentle valley floor with a steady incline. As elevation increases, the terrain becomes more alpine and offers impressive views of the surrounding mountains.

In the upper section, the ascent continues in switchbacks up to the ridge. From there, a short traverse leads to the panoramic summit. The tour stands out for its tranquility, varied landscape, and beautiful views of the Rieserferner Group and the surrounding valleys. The descent follows the same route.

Sturdy hiking boots, weather-appropriate clothing, and sufficient water are recommended. Sure-footedness is required for the steeper final ascent; trekking poles can be helpful.
