Hike to the Men of Stone
With the car until Vöran: Coming from both directions of the freeway Meran/Merano - Bolzano/Bozen (MEBO), take the exit of Meran Süd/Merano Sud and follow directions towards Meran first, to then turn right towards Hafling/Avelengo, follow the street to Vöran/Verano – the parking place is near the parish church in the centre.
With the Burgstall-Vöran funicular to Vöran: Coming from both directions of the freeway Meran - Bozen (MEBO), take the exit of Lana Süd/Lana Sud and follow directions towards Burgstall/Postal. Follow Romstraße/Via Roma for about 1.5km.
The stone men are located at an elevation of 2,000 metres on the Tschögglberg mountain plateau. Here you’ll find human figures made of stone. Myriad tales are linked to this place.
- Parking area in Vöran Dorf/Verano paese, free of charge (near the parish church)
- Free parking place at the valley station in Burgstall and the summit station in Vöran.
The hike to the Stoanernen Mandlen begins in the village of Vöran/Verano. It starts off along Trail No. 16 heading northeast towards a fork in the road at Grüner Baum Inn then continues along trail no. 16, first to the Bruggen saddle and then heading right, up towards Leadner Alm Mountain Hut. The hike then follows a beautiful trail through the forest, marked trail no. 11, until it reaches Auenerjoch (1,924 m).
From there, it turns right again towards the mystical Stoanernen Mandlen (2,003 m), the mystical site on the Tschögglberg Plateau where figures and small pyramids are made from stone. From the Stoanernen Mandlen, the route continues to Möltner Kaser Mountain Hut and along trail No. 15 to Waldbichl Inn. The trails no. 38 and no. 16 leads back to Vöran. Parking place near the parish church.
With the bus until the bus stop "Vöran Dorf":
- Bus no. 204 "Hafling - Vöran - Mölten - Terlan - Bozen"
- Bus no. 225 "Meran - Hafling - Falzeben" (until Hafling Dorf, than change to busline no. 204)
With the Burgstall-Vöran funicular to Vöran
