The ascent follows a historic military road that climbs the slope in steady, scenic switchbacks. A particularly impressive section leads towards Grüblscharte, where the trail winds harmoniously through the alpine landscape and rewards hikers with beautiful views.

The hike to Grüblalm hut (2,038 m) is a particularly scenic tour in the upper Antholz Valley – perfect for those seeking peace and nature away from busy trails. The route follows a historic military road that winds steadily uphill through the forest in wide switchbacks to the idyllic alpine pasture.

Starting from Antholz Obertal, the trail ascends gradually, offering beautiful views of the valley and the surrounding mountains along the way. The quietly located Grüblalm hut (not serviced) is a perfect place for a relaxing break in unspoiled nature.

Those who wish to continue higher can extend the hike to Grüblscharte (2,394 m), where a stunning panoramic view opens up over the Antholz Valley and the Gsiesertal Valley.

This hike is especially suitable for nature lovers and hikers looking for a varied and quiet route away from the main trails.

Sturdy hiking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing and sufficient water are recommended. A good level of fitness is required for the ascent to Grüblalm hut and Grüblscharte.
