The set-off point is Weißlahnbad. Bus 176 will bring you to St. Zyprian and from there you can hike to Weißlahnbad in half an hour. Alternatively, you can drive here. Parking facilities are available at the Visitor’s centre Tiers am Rosengarten in Weißlahnbad.
From the Weißlahnbad car park, follow the forest path uphill through woods and meadows towards the Wuhnleger, a small lake which reflects the peaks of the mount Rosengarten and the Vajolet towers. Here you can also see toads, salamanders and dragonflies. According to witnesses from the times, the Wuhnleger lake formed after the area was bombed in 1943 during World War 2.
From there, trail no. 4 leads you to the St. Sebastian Chapel, erected in remembrance of the Plague. The area known locally as the “Weihboden” is also an impressive place, and is thought to have been a cult site in pagan times. When you come to the fork in the road, take trail no. 6 towards the Pattissenhof farm to get back to Weißlahnbad.
Refreshment stop at the starting point of the tour. Not pram-friendly.
This tour boasts three highlights in one: The 17th century Plague Chapel, a small lake at the Wuhnleger meadows where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful views of the Rosengarten massif and the “Weihboden,” thought to have been a cult site in pagan times.
