From Klausen, take the LS87 to Villanders (village). At the DESPAR, turn right towards the Villanders Alm. After about 25 minutes’ drive, you reach the Saltnerstein car park (Gasser Hut).

Line 345: Klausen – Villanders – Villanders Alm

From the Gasserhütte (1,756 m, parking, information) the footpath no. 6/15 leads to the Mair-in-Plun-Alm (1,870 m, refreshment stop). Alpine road no. 6 climbs gently to Köber Leger (2,080 m). Turn right here and follow trail no. 1 through marshy meadows northwards to alpine road no. 16, which leads left to Prackfieder Jöchl (2,088 m). Trail no. 16B crosses to the Sarentino side to Moar in Ums Alm (2,055 m) in the basin of the Schwarzseen lakes. Continue on the path to the nearby Seebergalm (2,094 m); there turn left onto trail no. 6 ascending to the saddle “Am Toten” with the Totenkirchl (2,186 m). The path marked “T” leads right through rocky terrain to Totensee (2,210 m) and up to the ridge of the Villanderer Berg (Ochsenlucke, 2,356 m). The descent follows the broad ridge eastwards to a large wayside shrine (Bildstock, 2,150 m). There, turn right onto trail no. 1 heading southeast to Gasteiger Sattel (2,058 m). Following trail no. 7, you can shortcut two switchbacks on the north-facing slope; at the junction, turn right and trail no. 7 descends to the Kaser (1,742 m) and then along the road back to the Gasserhütte.
