From Resciesa to Laion
Spectacular alpine hike on the Resciesa plateau, offering a full 360° panorama of the Dolomites.
This varied and scenically impressive tour combines wide alpine landscapes with peaceful forest sections. From the open alpine meadows of Resciesa, the trail first leads to the Holy Cross Chapel, a quiet viewpoint. The route then follows the marked trail no. 35 down to the Ramitzler Schwaige Hut, a perfect place to stop for refreshments. Continuing via Unterpulg and the idyllic Punholz Pond, the trail finally returns to Laion. A rewarding full‑day hike with plenty of panoramic views.
Parking valley station Seceda
Highway exit Chiusa or via the state road from Bressanone to Chiusa:
- From Chiusa, follow the road towards Val Gardena. At the junction after the petrol station, turn left towards Laion. Afterwards via bus to Ortisei.
- From Bressanone or Bolzano: Take the regional train to Chiusa. From there, continue with bus line 351 directly to Ortisei, S. Antonio square.
From Bressanone: Take the bus line 360 directly to Ortisei, Piazza San Antonio.
From Bolzano: Take the bus line 350 directly to Ortisei, Piazza San Antonio.
Start: Mountain station of the Resciesa funicular
From the mountain station, follow the wide alpine trail no. 35 to the Holy Cross Chapel, which stands on a small rise with wide views of the surrounding mountains.
From the chapel, the descent begins along trail no. 35. The path leads across alpine meadows and later through forest sections down to the Ramitzler Schwaige Hut (refreshments available).
Below the Hut, continue on trail no. 35 towards Unterpulg Hut (refreshments available). The route is varied, passing through meadows and woodland.
From the Unterpulg Hut, follow the trail further to the Punholz Pond, a small and peaceful natural pond. Afterwards, continue on well‑marked paths back to Laion.
