The starting point of the tour is located in St. Magdalena in the Gsiesertal Valley.

From the Head of the Valley in the Gsiesertal Valley – St. Magdalena (1460 m, paid parking), turn right across the stream, then left past the Schlosserhof, again left, and follow forest trail no. 12 above the Burgerhof to the junction into the Pfoital. Continue straight into the valley to the Pfoialm (2134 m, no refreshments) and through the alpine valley to a fork. There, turn right and follow trail no. 13 to reach the Hintere Gsieser Lenke (2539 m). Beyond this col, turn immediately right until you meet trail no. 15, which you follow up to the Riepenspitze (2774 m).

Descent: from the summit follow trail no. 47, first briefly along the sharp northwest ridge, then down the steep western flank and finally across alpine pastures to the Stumpfalm (2000 m, refreshments available). From here, continue on forest road no. 47 in wide serpentines through the woods back to the starting point.
