The Leuchtenburg/Castelchiaro ruin dominates the hill above Lake Kaltern and shapes the landscape all around this wonderful village. The panoramic view from there is stunning and involves Kaltern itself, Tramin/Termeno, the South Tyrolean Unterland/Bassa Atesina and the nearby mountain peaks.

By car: from Kaltern take the wine road towards  Lake Kaltern and Tramin/Termeno. Right after the roundabout turn left towards Klughammer/Campi al Lago. Before you reach this district of Kaltern, follow the sign towards Laimburg. At the left curve, you will find a parking area on your right side which can be used as perfect starting point for the excursion to the ruin.
