The Tschafon/Monte Cavone is the local mountain of Tiers, and is one of the many spots in the Seiser Alm Dolomites region which is steeped in myth and legend. With its beautiful panoramic views, this mountain is the perfect day-trip destination.

This hiking tour is included in the family hiking book "Out and about with Nix the witch".

Parking area Weißlahnbad in St. Zyprian/Tiers

The set-off point is Weißlahnbad. Bus 176 will bring you to Tiers and then the bus 185 to St. Zyprian and from there you can hike to Weißlahnbad in half an hour. Alternatively, you can drive here. Parking facilities are available at the parking area Weißlahnbad.

Bus service and timetables

The starting point of the tour or the sight is easily and comfortably accessible by public transport:

By bus line 176 from Völs am Schlern to St. Zyprian, Weisslahnbad or by bus line 185 from Bozen bus station to St. Zyprian.

The tour begins at Weisslahnbad in St. Zyprian. Take trail no. 4A towards the Wuhnleger, a small lake whose waters reflect the Rosengarten mountain. The ascent to the Tschafon mountain refuge (open from Easter to All Saints’) begins at the fork in the trail.
If you wish, you can extend your hike to the summit cross on the Völseggspitze peak, at 1,834 m (around 25 min from the Tschafon mountain refuge). From here, you can enjoy a breathtaking far-reaching view over to Bolzano, capital city of South Tyrol, and the surrounding mountains.
To return to Weisslahnbad, follow the ascent route in the opposite direction.
