The Alpine Lake Circuit in Pfunders is a breathtaking hike through secluded mountain lakes, pristine alpine meadows, and expansive mountain vistas. Ideal for nature lovers seeking peace and authentic alpine landscapes.
The Dun parking lot in Pfunders Valley provides ample space for a relaxed start to your hike.
By Bus (n.418) from Vintl to Pfunders (Bus Stop Lärcher).
From there it is an additional 45-minute walk to the starting point of the hike.

Start at the Dun parking lot in the upper Pfunders Valley and take Trail No. 20 towards Grindlberg Lake. The hike initially follows an ascending paved road, then turns left onto a wide hiking path, guiding you through the scenic Dun Gorge.

Soon, the valley opens up, and the path runs alongside the Weitenberg Stream with views of the impressive Pfunders mountains. The trail gradually climbs through alpine pastures, passing the Lower and Upper Engberg Alm. Past the alms, Trail No. 20 narrows and becomes steeper, winding through flower-filled meadows to meet the Pfunders High Trail.

After about three hours, you’ll reach the secluded Grindlberg Lake at 2,485 m – a perfect spot to enjoy the surrounding tranquility. Continuing on Trail No. 20, descend over shale slabs to the lake’s northwest shore and then up to the Lake Saddle at 2,591 m, the highest point of the hike.

The descent brings you to the next highlight, the charming Weitenberg Lake. From here, the route continues without a fixed path but is well-marked through open alpine terrain to Weitenberg Alm (1,958 m), where you can enjoy fresh alpine products on the sunny terrace.

For the return, follow Trail No. 19 towards Dun, which reconnects with the initial trail leading back to the parking area.
