The Ratschings Alpine Pasture Trail (Almenweg Ratschings) begins at the car park of the Kalcheralm mountain hut, at the foot of the Jaufenpass. The route leads past several mountain huts offering food and refreshments. Initially, follow trail no. 19B to the Kalcheralm mountain hut. From there, the route continues towards the Rinneralm mountain hut and through the MountainAdventureWorld, a themed area for children, before reaching the Summit Mountain Club at the mountain station of the Ratschings-Jaufen cable car. The hike can also be shortened by starting from this point.

The trail then continues towards the Wasserfalleralm and Saxnerhütte mountain huts, before reaching the Äußere Wumblsalm and Innere Wumblsalm mountain huts. From here, continue to the Klammalm mountain hut, then descend to Flading along trail no. 12, skirting the Pfeifer-Huisele gorge.

As an alternative, the hike can be started from Flading and completed in the opposite direction, with a greater elevation gain.

Parking is available at the Kalcheralm car park.

Starting from the Ratschings-Jaufen cable car mountain station: Parking is available at the valley station of the Ratschings-Jaufen cable car, both above ground and in the underground car park.

Starting from Flading: Parking is available near St. Mary’s Chapel in Flading.

From Sterzing, follow the road to Gasteig and continue towards the Jaufenpass. Approximately 3.5 km before the mountain pass, the Kalcheralm mountain hut car park is located on the right-hand side.

Starting from the Ratschings-Jaufen cable car mountain station: From Sterzing, continue towards the Ratschingstal valley until reaching the valley station of the Ratschings-Jaufen cable car in the hamlet of Bichl.

Starting from Flading: From Sterzing, continue towards the head of the Ratschingstal valley until reaching St. Mary’s Chapel in the hamlet of Flading.

The starting point can be reached by bus line 317 (Sterzing/Vipiteno – Jaufenpass/Passo Giovo – St. Leonhard/S. Leonardo). Get off at the “Kalcheralm/Alpe di Calice” stop. Starting from the Ratschings-Jaufen cable car mountain station: The starting point can be reached by bus line 319 (Sterzing/Vipiteno – Ratschings/Racines). Starting from Flading: The starting point cannot be reached directly by public transport. It is possible to travel as far as the “Larch” stop on bus line 319 (Sterzing/Vipiteno – Ratschings/Racines) and continue on foot to Flading (approx. 45 min., 130 metres of elevation gain).
